Yxlon x-ray inspection system offers one-click operation
-- Test & Measurement World, 3/24/2009 9:00:00 AM
Intended to meet the inspection needs of the electronics, automotive, telecom, military, and aerospace industries, the Y.Cheetah 160-kV, 64-W microfocus x-ray system from Yxlon offers effortless imaging with one-click operation for a wide range of inspection tasks. The system combines Feinfocus x-ray technology with high-speed flat-panel detectors and a precision air-suspended manipulator.
Y.Cheetah provides flexible magnification control through a twin magnification axis. In Zoom+ mode, the tube and detector are driven synchronously in the same direction at a constant focus to the detector distance. X-ray intensity remains constant to maintain optimum grayscale resolution whatever the magnification. In PowerDrive mode, the tube and detector are driven synchronously in the opposite direction at constant geometric magnification. This quadruples x-ray intensity at halved focus to the detector distance.
Y.Cheetah comes in a compact housing that is 1400 mm wide by 1850 mm high and offers an inspection area of 460x410 mm, which can be viewed at ±70°, even at the highest geometric magnification. The inspection area is easily visible through a large window and is accessible through an automated door.
The inspection system can be easily tailored to meet customers’ present and future needs through retrofit modules and components. Y.Cheetah performs 2-D inspection and 3-D microfocus computed tomography (µCT) for failure analysis, research and development, process and quality control, and batch, series, and production inspection. Options include, but are not limited to, a Feinfocus multi-focus tube and high-power target, the Y.µCT module for 3-D inspection, additional trays, manipulation devices, and sample holder.
