OTDR monitors FTTx to ultra long-haul fiber networks

JDSU's OTU-8000 lets you monitor hundreds of fiber-optic links for degradation, thus warning you of possible failures. The remotely operated, rack-mounted system contains an optical time-domain reflectometer and optical switches to detect fiber errors and report them, often before trouble occurs.
You can control the unit through either an Ethernet connection or through a modem. It works in conjuction with JDSU's Optical Network Management System to test fiber links over a 40,000 km2 area and it can notify you either by e-mail or by text message.
