  • Harmonic attenuator module

    Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 3/1/2005 2:00:00 AM

The high-boost VI-HAM harmonic attenuator module is a universal AC input front-end module that has been optimized for use with its vendor's V375 series of DC/DC converters. A single high-boost VI-HAM can serve any combination of V375 series converters (available in quarter-, half-, and full-brick packages) up to 600 W, resulting in a power-conversion system with twice the power density, fewer components, and lower cost compared to previous VI-HAM-based implementations. Versions supporting parallel operation are available for applications requiring over 600 W of output power. In addition, the high-boost VI-HAM is fully compatible with Vicor's VI-26x and VI-J6x series DC/DC converters, allowing designers to choose from converters with outputs from 2 to 95 VDC at power ratings from 50 to 600 W.

The VI-HAM consists of a full-wave rectifier and a proprietary high-frequency zero-current switching (ZCS) boost converter; each includes active inrush current limiting plus over-temperature and short-circuit protection. The user needs only to provide a few additional components, including external hold-up capacitors and a line filter.

Base price: $99 each in quantities of 5000. Vicor, Andover, MA.www.vicorpower.com.
