  • Intersil samples Prism WorldRadio

    -- Test & Measurement World, 7/2/2003 2:00:00 AM

Intersil (Milpitas, CA) has announced that it is sampling Prism WorldRadio (WR) with key customers and original design manufacturers (ODMs). Prism WorldRadio, a chipset for wireless-LAN applications, employs Intersil's Prism Nitro technology, a firmware upgrade that is part of Intersil's SingleSource Driver suite to deliver up to 3X improvement in throughput for 802.11g clients.

Prism WorldRadio enables users to establish a WLAN network connection throughout the world with any standards-compliant wireless 802.11 infrastructure. For true worldwide operations, Prism WorldRadio self-configures to the appropriate frequency and operating parameters specific to any region. In addition, Prism WorldRadio is capable of tuning frequency ranges that cover the worldwide wireless LAN spectrum (2.40-2.50 GHz and 4.9-5.85 GHz).
