Cognex extends vision sensor capabilities

Joining the Checker line of vision sensors from Cognex is the Checker 252, a device that includes all the inspection capabilities of its predecessors, plus the ability to perform pass/fail inspection of height, width, and diameter on high-speed production lines. Height and width software sensors verify the distance between two parallel edges, while the diameter sensor verifies circle diameters.
Key to the simplicity of the Checker 252 is the one-click caliper on the application setup screen. Using the familiar look of a conventional vernier caliper, the Checker caliper automatically locks on the edges of the feature to be measured, sets the minimum and maximum thresholds, and learns edge polarity.
“With its unique screen caliper, the Checker 252 makes pass/fail measurement verification simple and reliable,” said Pascal Dorster, Vision Sensors Business Unit manager. “Manufacturers in many industries, such as automotive and packaging, can now verify dimensions of parts with very low-contrast edges and solve a wide range of measurement verification tasks not possible with photoelectric sensors.”
The Checker 252 also provides built-in white LED illumination, a variable working distance, and inspection speeds of up to 1500 parts per minute. As with other Checker models, the Checker 252 is available with the Cognex SensorView 350, a compact, industrial panel-mount display.
