Keithley adds 6x16 matrix card to switch/multimeter line
-- Test & Measurement World, 7/30/2009 9:00:00 AM
The latest addition to Keithley Instrument's plug-in switch and control cards for its Series 3700 System Switch/Multimeter mainframe is a two-pole reed-relay matrix card with 6 rows by 16 columns. Designated the Model 3731, the card's voltage and current characteristics—200 V, 1 A switched or 2 A carry signal capacity—make it suitable for multichannel I-V testing in conjunction with the company's Series 2600A System SourceMeter instruments.
Incorporating dry reed relays with actuation times of less than 0.5 ms, the Model 3731 is useful for applications that require a combination of high throughput and long switch life. Relay contacts are rated for more than 1 billion no-load switch operations. As a matrix card, the Model 3731 offers the flexibility to connect any of up to six differential instrument channels to any combination of 16 devices under test. Any row can be connected to the Series 3700 mainframe's backplane by using the analog backplane connection relays.
A single Model 3706 mainframe supports a matrix of up to 6 rows by 96 columns when six Model 3731 cards are installed. By using the TSP-Link master/slave communication bus, multiple mainframes can be linked to create even larger switch configurations. The analog backplane also offers automated access to the multimeter built into the Model 3706 mainframe.
The Model 3731 employs two 50-pin male D-sub connectors for signal connections. A detachable accessory is available for making screw-terminal connections. The 6x16 reed-relay matrix card costs $1995.
