Elma's switches employ SMD resistors for precise volume control
-- Test & Measurement World, 7/3/2009 9:00:00 AM
Offered in mono and stereo versions, Elma Electronic's MV Series of stepped attenuators with built-in surface-mount resistors can be used to replace potentiometers in audio motor controls and other applications. Each device employs a low-noise, thin-film resistor with 0.1% tolerance, so no fidelity is lost anywhere in the input-selection path.
The MV Series comprises stepped attenuators in 24 positions and in versions with 1 to 6 channels, as well as 1 to 4 poles. A 3-µm gold contact system ensures low contact bounce, and the switches work well within specifications even after 50,000 rotations. The switch's small PCB requires only a simple three-wire hookup for audio in, audio out, and ground.
