IABG Acquiring 1024-Channel Dynamic Test System
-- Test & Measurement World, 1/26/2006 6:48:00 AM
Dewetron has announced that it is building a dynamic test system having more than 1000 channels for Munich-based IABG, a test house that tests and certifies aerospace systems. The main application for the new system will be modal, vibration, acoustic, and shock tests to evaluate structures and componens for aircraft and spacecraft.
Dewetron will provide a complete hardware system based on its DEWESoft common platform, which in turn features DCOM extensibility, which will allow IABG to add its own application-specific software to handle proprietary calculations.
The completed system will support 1024 channels and employ six high-speed computer systems connected by a Gigabit Ethernet network. Four of the computer systems will support 256 channels each, and each of these can serve as a portable signal-acquisition system for field applications. A fifth computer system serves as a 16-channel arbitration generator to control external shakers. The final computer system acts as a main server that controls the other systems and stores data.
The system front end incorporates Dewetron MDAQ-ACC modules, which provide 16 phase-synched input amplifiers, programmable switched filters per channel, and selectable input ranges for accelerometers. Dewetron Orion-1624 cards provide analog-to-digital conversion; each card incorporates 16 synchronized 24-bit ADCs that operate at up to 200 ksamples/s per channel. A Dewetron FGEN-16 function generator provides 16 synchronous output channels, with total harmonic distortion less than 0.005% and frequency stability typically equaling better than 5 ppm.
