FLIR finalizes Cedip Infrared Systems acquisition
-- Test & Measurement World, 1/29/2009 9:00:00 AM
Under terms announced by FLIR Systems in 2007, the company has completed the acquisition of Cedip Infrared Systems. The acquisition improves FLIR’s international distribution network in the scientific camera market and adds new products and technology, including cooled mid-wave infrared cameras.
“We have made the transition as seamless and as smooth as possible for all parties involved,” said Dave Bursell, National Director, Science Segment. “Customers served by Cedip can be assured FLIR will continue to provide innovative products and quality support. We are excited about bringing new products to market that build on the strengths of the newly integrated operations.”
Cost benefits are expected to be realized in the combined operations through integrated distribution and lower manufacturing costs. For example, Cedip’s Polytech subsidiary, located in Eskilstuna, Sweden, specializes in mid-size, highly stabilized gimbal systems. The Polytech subsidiary is now part of FLIR’s Government Systems Division. Cedip’s infrared camera operations are joining with FLIR’s Thermography Division. The Cedip development and manufacturing center near Paris will continue to develop and produce high-end systems.
