Pendulum Instruments has announced the CNT-91 timer/counter/analyzer, which features 50-ps single-shot time-interval resolution and 12-digits/s frequency resolution. It can acquire 250,000 measurements/s, storing them to internal results memory; it can transmit 2600 individual measurements/s via a GPIB or USB interface.
Zero-dead-time frequency and period are standard features, allowing for accurate measurement and analysis of signal stability and Allan Variance. The CNT-91 includes the ability to program a pulse output from 0.5 Hz to 50 MHz for defining pulse-rate frequency (PRF). Displays of histograms, trend lines, and modulation are viewable directly on the instrument’s screen. TimeView software extends the CNT-91 capabilities as a modulation-domain analyzer to 20 GHz.
Staffan Johansson, Pendulum Instruments’ marketing director, said that the CNT-91 adds expanded capabilities of the company’s CNT-90 family of frequency counters. The CNT-91 compliments the CNT-90 with higher speed, greater resolution, and continuous data streaming during, not after, measurements. The products serve applications from the the calibration lab to the manufacturing floor.
