Handheld capacitor tester

A portable in-circuit ESR and DCR capacitor tester, the Model 881 uses a standard 9-VDC battery or optional AC wall adapter as its power source. The unit measures the equivalent series resistance of electrolytic capacitors (0.47 mF to 2200 mF) in or out of circuit over a range of 0.1V to 30V and measures DCR over the same range. A three-color chart of ESR ratings on the tester’s front panel helps determine if ESR readings are within good, fair, or bad ranges. Price: $199.
