Who says the test engineer is powerless? Remember, it’s the "test guy" who makes the call as to whether a product is ready for prime time.
Just because you work in a corner lab without windows doesn’t mean that you’re "just another engineer." Those hot-shot designers can’t cut corners and get their designs past a good test engineer, and the sooner they learn that, the better designers they’ll become, and the more they'll respect you.
Inspired by many visits to companies that take test seriously, “The Lab in the Corner” tells the world that it’s the test engineer who must sign off on a new design. The test engineer runs tests that the designers often don’t think of, thus making sure a new product will operate correctly in the field.
Remember, it’s you who decides if a product lives up to its hype.
