  • The Measurement Blues: Engineers share their songs and pictures

After Martin Rowe posted "The Measurement Blues" to our Web site, other engineers sent him pictures of their bands and copies of their songs.

    -- Test & Measurement World, 5/18/2006 11:17:00 AM

Ever since senior technical editor Martin Rowe (right) recorded "The Measurement Blues," he has been hearing from other engineers who want to share stories about their musical activities.

On this page, you'll find pictures of other musical engineers along with links to songs they have recorded. Want to be included? Send an e-mail to Martin.

Glen Watkins of ETS-Lindgren has, at last count, more than 40 guitars in his Austin, TX, home. A walk-in closet is filled with them, but even that isn't nearly enough space for his collection.

Here's a photo of Glen holding what he thinks is a Nashville Power Tele. "It has piezo pickups in addition to the regular pickups," he claims.

Ed Baroth of the Jet Propulsion Lab submitted a photo (below) and a song from his band, The Ka Band. That's Baroth on the right playing a Rickenbacker bass. You can download the original instrumental "Bop for Bill" (4-Mbyte mp3), written by keyboardist Les Deutsch. The photo was taken at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.
