AVX Corp has enhanced its BestCap (battery energy saving technology capacitor) series of electrochemical supercapacitors to reduce the ESR (equivalent series resistance). The BZ05 aims at pulse hold-up applications from servers to wireless meter readers. The BZ06 is a low-profile device for digital cameras and PCMCIA cards. The capacitors range in size from 500 mF at 3.3V to 90 mF at 12V and offer 100 mOhm ESR. The capacitors also offer a DCL (DC leakage current) in the range of 5-40 uA. The capacitors use aqueous polymer chemistry and are fully RoHS compliant. AVX Corp., www.avxcorp.com.
