IDT shrinks high-speed camera for automotive testing

The miniature Redlake N-Series camera from IDT is smaller, lighter, and faster than comparable cameras used for automotive testing, according to the manufacturer. Weighing less than 2 lbs, the N-Series enables fewer weight adjustments during testing. With other models closer to 13 lbs, test engineers were previously at a disadvantage when placing as many as 16 cameras inside an automobile.
The N-3 camera provides a frame rate of 1000 fps at a resolution of 1280x1024 pixels, while the N-5 camera delivers 500 fps at a resolution of 2352x1728 pixels. The camera series also offers a choice of 10-bit (monochrome) and 30-bit (color) models, along with configurable RAM, a Gigabit Ethernet interface, and both MP3 and PDA compatibility. Autonomous operation can be achieved for up to 60 minutes with an optional battery. A wireless option is also available to increase the camera’s adaptability.
