OEM Board Provides Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity

The iPORT PT1000-VB OEM board from Pleora Technologies allows camera manufacturers to integrate high-performance Gigabit Ethernet connectivity into a camera by changing out the back-end interface electronics.
In applications such as industrial inspection, health care, post and parcel sorting, and high-end security/surveillance, demand for Gigabit Ethernet connections is growing. According to company president George Chamberlain, the board uses best-in-class hardware to achieve clock-cycle accuracy and low power at all throughput levels, including the full 1 Gigabit/s rate. By contrast, he says, Gigabit Ethernet interfaces based on embedded processors seldom achieve the same precise performance, and can need 10 times more power to support very fast frame rates.
