-- Test & Measurement World, 8/24/2009 9:00:00 AM
The latest software update for the 3920 series digital radio test set from Aeroflex includes a number of enhancements and support for a wide range of analog and digital radio technologies used around the world. With release 1.7.6.2, the 3920 platform offers test options for P25, TETRA, HPD, NXDN, DMR (MOTOTRBO), dPMR (ETSI 102-490), and Japan's ARIB STD-T98 digital radio technologies.
In addition, the software provides new features such as air monitoring for P25 message logging, enhanced SmartNet/SmartZone trunking with analog voice-channel handoff, and an audio tracking-generator function for the audio analyzer to allow swept measurements and the creation of audio circuit-response curves. An improved DMR (digital mobile radio) system includes the addition of new transmitter patterns and advanced analysis functionality.
The software updates also enable parametric measurements for dPMR (digital private mobile) systems and digital test modes for NXDN and ARIB T98 radio systems. The addition of a simplified Chinese user interface was a joint development between Aeroflex's operations in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and the development team in Wichita, KS. All of the software upgrades for the Aeroflex 3920 digital radio test set can be performed in the field.
