FLIR Systems has introduced a professional-grade thermal imaging camera that delivers a resolution of 120x120 pixels, accuracy of 2%, and thermal sensitivity of 0.1°C-at a price of just $2995. The compact unit reveals abnormal temperature readings with crisp images displayed on a 2.8-in. (71-mm) color LCD. Its fully automatic design, intuitive menu navigation, and focus-free lens make it easy to use, even for newcomers to thermal imaging. The FLIR i7 offers three measurement modes: spot (center), area (minimum/maximum), and isotherm (above/below). Image controls include three palette options: iron, rainbow, and black and white. Up to 5000 images can be captured and stored on the FLIR i7's MicroSD memory card. Browsing images on the camera's large LCD is simplified through the use of a thumbnail gallery. You can transfer images to a PC via the MicroSD card or through a USB connection.
Unlike proprietary image formats, FLIR's radiometric JPEG format allows you to analyze temperature data directly from a common image format using the company's QuickReport software. Radiometric JPEGs permit sharing images with others via email attachment or Word documents without cumbersome file-export routines.
The camera's lightweight, easy-grip design minimizes user fatigue. It weighs less than 12 oz, including a battery with an operating time of more than 4 hours. The FLIR i7 also stands up to rough handling with a double-molded construction that is dustproof and splashproof in accordance with IP43 standards.
For $2995, the FLIR i7 infrared camera comes with a 512-Mbyte MicroSD card, miniSD adapter, Li-Ion rechargeable battery with AC adapter/charger, QuickReport software, USB mini-B cable, built-in manual lens protector, hand strap, and hard case.
