  • Agilent's signal analyzers enable RF measurement to 7.5 GHz

The N9000A CXA signal analyzer leverages a library of measurement applications.

    -- Test & Measurement World, 10/20/2009 7:00:00 AM

Agilent claims its N9000A CXA signal analyzers are low-cost instruments that offer frequency coverage up to 7.5 GHz. Through the use of a variety of built-in and optional measurement capabilities, the analyzers can be configured and reconfigured to meet present and future requirements.

You can use the N9000A CXA analyzers for general-purpose electronics manufacturing, low-cost R&D, and RF education. In addition to built-in one-button measurements, the CXA leverages a library of measurement applications, including preconfigured test routines for noise figure, phase noise, and analog demodulation. To ensure measurement consistency, the applications are virtually identical to those that run on the Agilent EXA, MXA, and PXA signal analyzers. What's more, the Agilent 89600 VSA (vector signal analysis) software can run inside the instrument, providing analysis of more than 50 demodulation formats.

According to the manufacturer, the CXA is up to 200% faster than other low-cost analyzers, delivering the speed needed to increase system throughput and reduce system count. For example, the CXA can return a peak-search result in less than 5 ms and perform a remote sweep-and-transfer in less than 6 ms via a LAN. Switching between measurement modes typically takes less than 75 ms.

Frequency coverage is 9 kHz to 3.0 GHz for the N9000A-503and 9 kHz to 7.5 GHz for the N9000A-507. Other specifications include absolute amplitude accuracy of ±0.5 dB, third-order intermodulation of +13 dBm, displayed average noise level of –161 dBm, and W-CDMA ACLR (adjacent channel leakage power ratio) dynamic range of 66 dB.

Base prices for the CXA signal analyzers range from $12,657 for the N9000A-503 to approximately $16,360 for the N9000A-507.
