VeriWave launches video-over-WiFi test
-- Test & Measurement World, 11/1/2009 1:00:00 AM
The WaveVideo tool from VeriWave measures the quality of video streamed over WiFi-based consumer services, video-security networks, and video-conferencing services. The tool lets makers of WiFi access points, video and media gateways, and set-top boxes accelerate time to market. In addition, service providers and IT departments can use WaveVideo to optimize network design and troubleshoot end-user problems. The tool supports video ranging from VGA to HDTV.
When run in conjunction with VeriWave’s traffic-generator/analyzer chassis, WaveVideo can create hundreds of video-over-WLAN streams and measure the individual and combined performance of a network and associated devices. The tool can provide objective measures of quality using numerical values, or users can subjectively compare original video clips entering a system with the resulting video clips that pass through the system. The tool also lets users mix video traffic with voice and data to observe cross impact.
Base price: $7500 per licensed VeriWave test port. Veriwave, www.veriwave.com.
