ZTEC debuts 12-, 13-, and 14-bit oscilloscopes
ZTEC Instruments has introduced three new series of high-resolution 300-MHz-bandwidth oscilloscopes in PCI, PXI, VXI, and LXI form factors. All the instruments offer 128 Msamples of acquisition memory on each input channel. The instruments can also be interleaved for 256 Msamples maximum acquisition length on one half of the channels.
The ZT4440 series has 14-bit ADC resolution and a maximum real-time sampling rate of 400 Msamples/s per channel, or 800 Msamples/s max when interleaved. The ZT4430 series has 13-bit ADC resolution and a maximum real-time sampling rate of 250 Msamples/s per channel, or 500 Msamples/s max when interleaved. And the ZT4420 series has 12-bit ADC resolution and a maximum real-time sampling rate of 500 Msamples/s per channel, or 1 Gsample/s max when interleaved.
The modular oscilloscopes are available in two-channel models (ZT44x1 PCI, PXI, VXI, and LXI) and in four-channel models (ZT44x2 VXI and LXI only). With their onboard processing, the instruments calculate over 40 waveform parameters related to a waveform’s voltage, time, and frequency characteristics.
Math functions include addition, subtraction, multiplication, integration, differentiation, FFT, histograms, and parameter trending. Drivers and programming support are available for programming environments including LabView, LabWindows/CVI, COM, Matlab, Visual C/C++, and Visual Studio. www.ztecinstruments.com.
Pickering adds relay self-test to switching
Pickering Interfaces has added BIRST (built-in relay-self-test) capabilities to several of its PXI switching modules. BIRST identifies any relay failures in the modules and can detect relays with deteriorating contacts, which may indicate they are in the process of failing.
To make use of BIRST, a user disconnects a module from the unit under test and runs the supplied application program. No supporting test equipment is required. The test will identify the position of any defective or suspect relay within the module.
The BIRST feature is currently available on 11 of the company’s switching modules, but the company expects to add it to more PXI modules as well as to its LXI products in the future. www.pickeringtest.com.
