JDSU's initiative to help rural broadband service providers
Broadband@Work Across America helps rural operators use stimulus funds to deploy broadband services.

JDSU recently launched the Broadband@Work Across America campaign to help raise awareness and educate rural service providers on the technical issues and challenges that could impact their ability to successfully deploy broadband services in towns across the country. The campaign is inspired by the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which provides $7.2 billion to accelerate broadband service deployment to rural and underserved regions in the nation.
Broadband@Work Across America leverages JDSU's expertise in broadband network test and management solutions, as well as optical components and equipment, to help rural operators use stimulus funds to deploy broadband services through fiber-to-the-home, digital subscriber line, wireless, and hybrid fiber-coaxial systems, among others.
JDSU showcased its latest products and services at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, including the MVP-200, now with the ability to function as both an MPEG digital video monitoring probe, while simultaneously supporting the ability to perform deep-packet inspection on selected MPEG transport streams or single programs. It also presented the MSQ-900 QAM signal level meter; the T-BERD 6000A handheld test platform for all phases of the network lifecycle; the HP3-60 and Fiber Essential Tool Kit for inspecting and testing fiber networks; and the Operational Process Re-Engineering Consulting Practice to help cable operators overcome the obstacles associated with measuring service performance, identifying performance degradation, and delivering on the requirements of the carrier-grade SLAs.
