AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation has added a new power meter to its family of test instruments. The Model PM2003 is a three-channel bench meter that covers a frequency range of 10 kHz to 40 GHz and a power-measurement range of –70 dBm to +44 dBm, depending on the power head. In addition, the PM2003 delivers 200 readings/s using one channel and 100 readings/s using two channels. The PM2003 power meter displays and records two channels at a time, while the third channel can be easily switched in to be displayed or recorded. A wide selection of diode and thermocouple power heads is available to configure the PM2003. Dynamic range extends up to 90 dB with diode power heads and up to 50 dB with thermocouple heads. Linearity and frequency calibration factors of the power heads are stored in an EEPROM that is contained within the data adapter that ships with each head. The PM2003 provides rear-panel head connectors and a rear-panel IEEE 488 as standard.
Measurement results are displayed on the meter's 20-char by 4-line LCD with selectable resolution of 5 digits for nW, µW, mW, and W or 4 digits for dBm. Two channels are displayed simultaneously, along with a bargraph indicator of measured values. Total measurement accuracy is the sum of the following uncertainties: (errors are ± worst case). Instrumentation accuracy is 0.23% of full scale; 0.46% of 1/10 full scale.
