  • Acces I/O's USB modules furnish up to 16 analog outputs

You can use the USB-AO16-16A with any USB-equipped PC or embedded system.

    -- Test & Measurement World, 3/17/2010 9:59:06 AM

Comprising 10 small-form-factor modules, the USB-AO series from Access I/O Products offers 4, 8, or 16 single-ended analog outputs with 12-bit or 16-bit resolution, as well as a high-speed USB 2.0 interface. These multifunction modules provide jumper-selectable unipolar and bipolar output ranges of ±5 V and 0 to 10 V, while specific ranges can be accommodated as factory options.

The flagship model of the series, the USB-AO16-16A, supplies 16 analog-output channels with 16-bit resolution, along with 2 16-bit analog inputs and 16 digital I/O lines. You can use the USB-AO16-16A with any USB-equipped PC or embedded system for applications that require stable and accurate output signals, such as motion control and process control.

All analog-output channels can be updated either individually or simultaneously at up to 4 kHz. System calibration specific to user requirements can be performed using the supplied software utility. Automatic circuits limit analog outputs to zero volts until initialized via software command. The buffered digital I/O lines can source or sink 10 mA or 24 mA, respectively.

The USB-AO series is intended for use in rugged industrial environments, but is small enough to fit neatly on any desk or testing station. Modules come in a 4x4x1.25-in. steel powder-coated enclosure with an antiskid bottom. DIN-rail mounting provisions are optional. An OEM board-only version has predrilled mounting holes that match the PC/104 form factor (without the bus connections). The USB-AO series can be integrated into any PC/104-based stack by simply connecting it to a USB port included onboard with embedded CPU form factors, such as EBX, EPIC, and PC/104.

Prices for the USB-AO series of multifunction modules range from $299 to $699, depending on the model. You can download a datasheet and manuals at www.accesio.com/go.cgi?p=/usb/usb-ao16-16a.html.
