On April 6, the editorial staff of Test & Measurement World announced that the Teradyne ETS-88 multisite test system has been selected as the 2010 Test Product of the Year. The announcement was made during a ceremony held in Las Vegas, during which we also honored the winners of the annual Test Engineer of the Year award, Test of Time award, and Best in Test awards. The ETS-88, which won the Best in Test award in the Semiconductor Test category, received the most overall votes in the Best in Test balloting.Lisa Moder, senior test engineer at EchoStar Technologies, was voted the 2010 Test Engineer of the Year by our readers. With EchoStar's SlingLoaded set-top box, consumers can view their satellite, cable, or off-air programs from anywhere in the world where an Internet connection is available. Moder, who works with EchoStar's contract manufacturers to to ensure their test lines are up and running successfully, was one of six finalists for the award and was profiled in the cover story in our April 2010 issue. As part of her award, Moder designated the Metropolitan State College of Denver to receive a $10,000 grant, courtesy of National Instruments.
We announced the finalists for our annual product awards in our December/January issue, and the winners were chosen by the vote of our readers and editorial staff. The winner of the Test of Time award, which recognizes a product that continues to provide state-of-the-art service more than five years after its introduction, is the 89600 Vector Signal Analysis Software from Agilent Technologies. The 89600 was one of seven finalists for the 2010 award. Agilent says the 89600 is the first PC-based signal-analysis software, the first software to make measurements with more than one signal-analyzer platform, the first software to perform wideband vector signal analysis up to 36 MHz, and the first software to analyze over 70 signal formats.
