Switzerland-based Haefely EMC, along with Hipotronics in Brewster, NY, announces the launch of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) simulator called ONYX. Sold under the brand name of Haefely EMC, the simulator is available in 16-kV and 30-kV versions. The manufacturer claims that the ONYX is one of the most ergonomic 30-kV ESD guns available without an additional base control unit that can operate from either a rechargeable battery or mains supply.A programmable multifunction key for changing polarity, resetting the counter, and stepping the voltage complements the unit's large touch screen for simple and safe operation. Exchangeable R/C pulse-shaping modules are available to cover all relevant test standards (IEC, EN, ISO, ANSI, MIL), along with exchangeable test tips. ONYX also features a multilingual interface, an optical interface for remote PC control, a built-in LED light, and temperature and humidity display to allow trouble-free use for all types of test sites.
