Used as a mobile measuring device in industrial environments, the RDXL8 thermometer from Omega Engineering performs integrated recording, profiling, and archiving functions. The unit not only accepts eight configurable, isolated thermocouple and DC millivolt inputs, but also offers a graphic display and programmable high or low alarms for each input. With its high resolution and fast analog-to-digital conversion, the RDXL8 meets the data-logging requirements of most industrial applications. The ability to show measured values and to analyze them on the graphical display eliminates the need to download collected data to a computer for further analysis.
The RDXL8 is equipped with a 5-in. monochrome display or a 5.7-in. color TFT LCD. It also has a built-in calendar clock and a USB communication port. When used with the supplied 2-Gbyte SD memory card, the RDXL8 stores over a million points of data for eight channels at the same time.
The RDXL8 with a monochrome display costs $1900, while the color version costs $2500. Each model comes with a mini connector for analog input, an optical RS-232 to USB bridge, eight AA alkaline batteries, AC adapter, USB cable, software CD, SD memory card, eight Type K beaded wire thermocouples, and a carrying case.
