Altair chipset finishes LTE Band Class 14 testing

LTE chipset supports FDD and TDD variants.

Altair Semiconductor announced that its FourGee-3100/6200 LTE chipset has successfully completed LTE Band 14 interoperability testing with Alcatel-Lucent infrastructure. Band 14 spectrum, which is in the 700-MHz band, has been allocated by the FCC for public safety broadband use in the US.

The FourGee-3100/6200 LTE chipset supports both FDD and TDD variants on a single semiconductor and software platform in any 3GPP frequency band between 700 MHz and 2700 MHz. It implements a high-performance MIMO receive architecture and is based on a proprietary software-defined radio processor, offering performance that exceeds conventional communications DSP cores, yet consumes a fraction of the power.

Alcatel-Lucent was the first network equipment manufacturer to showcase a commercial-grade LTE network operating in the Band 14 spectrum. It continues to lead the development of an LTE ecosystem of devices and applications in support of public safety.
