The iTHX-SD transmitter from Newport Electronics lets you monitor and record temperature, relative humidity, and dew point over an Ethernet network or the Internet with just a web browser. Easily configured through a simple menu, the device serves active web pages to display real-time charts of readings and can trigger an alarm if the temperature or humidity goes above or below a user-defined set point. Alarm messages can be delivered via email to a single user or to a group distribution list. The virtual chart viewed on the web page is a Java applet. Chart scales are fully adjustable on the fly, and temperature and humidity can be charted across the full span (−40°C to +124°C and 0% to 100% RH) or within any narrow range. In addition, the iTHX-SD can log data in standard formats for use in a spreadsheet or data-acquisition program, such as Excel or Visual Basic.
A removable 2-Gbyte SD flash memory card is supplied with the transmitter that stores up to 7 years of readings taken at 10-s intervals. The iTHX-SD also comes with a plug-in temperature and humidity probe that mounts on the instrument or an optional industrial probe with a 3-ft or 10-ft cable.
Base price: $395.
