GAO's handheld performs GigE BER testing and more

Portable tester sports a 4.3-in. color touch-screen LCD.

The Model A0060001 from GAO Tek is a 10/100/1000-Mbps Ethernet tester that combines network testing, data-packet capture, single and multiple-site traffic generation, cable testing, and BER testing into one handheld unit. You can use the instrument to perform BER testing of layers 1 through 3, as well as automated RFC-2544 benchmark testing.

Equipped with a 4.3-in. color touch-screen LCD and smart navigation menus, the unit is capable of identifying cable faults such as short and open circuits, as well as cable length. It also conducts termination-mode testing and indicates frame length, frame type, and used ratio status. Other test functions provided by the A0060001 include port positioning, packet capture, and loopback.

The portable tester is available in two configurations. The A0060001A has two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and two 1000BASE-SX/LX/ZX SFP ports, while the A0060001B has just one port of each type. Both units include a USB port, rechargeable battery, and Test Manager Pro software.
