Share the vision

Welcome to the first Machine-Vision & Inspection Test Report. We think machine vision has become such an important part of a quality-assurance strategy that you want a special section that concentrates solely on the needs of people who apply and use automated inspection systems.

You'll continue to read about machine-vision and other inspection topics such as microscopy, image-analysis software, and e-beam techniques in our regular monthly issues. These special reports (this one in 2002, and two in 2003) give you additional opportunities to learn about technologies, applications, and products.

If you've solved a difficult machine-vision problem, applied vision software in a new way, or even used an older technology to do something different, your colleagues would like to know. Good stories come from the people who tackle machine-vision problems, and even applications that didn't work can provide information that will help others.

We're looking for stories ranging from a tip of a few hundred words to a complete start-to-finish description of an application. It's up to you to decide what you want to share with your fellow engineers. Before you start writing, though, give me a call or send me an e-mail note, and let's discuss your idea.
