Intelligent digital high-resolution camera

Combining advanced sensor technologies and embedded high-speed processing, Philips CFT Industrial Vision has introduced the Inca 311 digital monochrome camera. CMOS sensors achieve a resolution of up to 1280x1024 at 10 bits/pixel, with a selectable sensor readout window. A wide variety of communication interfaces allow easy integration into existing equipment. Philips CFT Industrial Vision , Singapore. +65-6357-9380; http://www.cft.philips.com/industrialvision .

BGA video inspection systems

Providing a nondestructive method of visually inspecting hidden solder joints, ASG's three new IS-1000 BGA inspection systems can reduce field failures and catch defects that elude other test techniques. Built-in light sources allow the inspection of up to eight or nine balls from the BGA edge at magnifications of 70X to 140X and 330x350 lines of resolution. According to ASG, the IS-1000 systems allow operators to confirm solder-ball shape, microcracking, excess flux, bridging, and other soldering defects in place of, or in addition to, conventional x-ray systems. Megapixel camera for high-speed applications

To make precision images of very fast events a simple matter of "plug-and-play," Pulnix has introduced the 500-frame/s PC-1024CL fast-framing CMOS camera, complete with a host of standard features. An asynchronous trigger ensures successful image capture. The vendor's patented LUT (look-up-table) ensures sharp contrast whatever the lighting conditions. The light 185-gram weight, 1.3-W power consumption at 5 V, and ability to handle shocks of up to 70 g enhance its usefulness in harsh environments. Price: $3995. Pulnix , Sunnyvale, CA. 800-445-5444; http://www.pulnix.com .

Color machine-vision sensors

DVT's SpectroCam color machine-vision sensors incorporate spectrophotometers to detect small color variations (such as different shades of white on an automobile door). Each SpectroCam employs a built-in spectrograph function to split incoming light into its constituent wavelengths, representing wavelength along the x-axis and spatial information along the y-axis. The product can learn a sample's complete spectrum from 380 nm to 900 nm, and it can monitor spectral peak locations to serve applications such as LED quality control. High-speed analog frame grabber

To ensure data integrity in high-speed in-line inspection applications, Coreco Imaging has introduced the PC2-Vision analog frame grabber for the 32-bit PCI bus. The PC2-Vision offers flexible and programmable acquisition capability. Its six camera connections support up to six monochrome or two RGB cameras simultaneously. A frame-delay mode allows concurrent captures on all six inputs. The PC2-Vision simplifies camera interfacing with fully programmable timing coupled with efficient cabling and a variety of trigger, strobe, and asynchronous reset options. Machine-vision sensor for multi-angle applications

Omron's F250 four-camera machine-vision sensor brings real-time performance to multi-angle applications, searching for parts or features located at random angles and positions while maintaining production speeds up to 6000 parts/min. The F250 provides precise positioning, even with poor image quality. The F250 features a built-in Ethernet port and a matching algorithm that quickly and accurately detects any differences between the registered model and image being measured. Expandable memory using standard flash-RAM memory cards of 128 Mbytes allows large storage capacity for setup programs and images that can be easily transferred to other F250s or PCs. Price: $12,000. Omron Electronics , Schaumburg, IL. 800-556-6766; http://www.info.omron.com .
