AVL to commercialize vehicle-simulation software
Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 4/1/2003
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL; Golden, CO) has chosen AVL (Plymouth, MI) to further develop and commercialize NREL's Advisor software. The selection was the result of a competitive solicitation process that began last summer.
Although the final terms are still being negotiated, the agreement calls for AVL to develop and market the next version of Advisor, dubbed Advisor 2003. It also calls for NREL and AVL to cooperate on research and development, and it awards NREL a free license to all future versions of Advisor.
Scientists at NREL developed Advisor to help them model and simulate fuel cell and hybrid powertrains. The software provides information on vehicle performance, fuel economy, and emissions. http://www.ctts.nrel.gov/analysis/.
