Automotive sensor sales to nearly double by 2009
Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 8/1/2003
A study by Frost & Sullivan notes that sales of automotive sensors hit $1.6 billion in 2002 and should reach $2.6 billion by 2009. In 2002, 342 million units were shipped, and the number is projected to be 527 million in 2009. (The projected decline in average prices for most sensors is the reason for the lack of correlation between unit volume and revenue growth.)
The study says that use of sensors to implement new performance and safety features, such as advanced electronic braking systems, electronic stability systems, and active suspension, will account for much of this growth. http://www.frost.com (report code B158).
