Cognex expands Asian reach

Machine-vision supplier Cognex (Natick, MA), which already has a presence in Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Singapore, has announced the opening of its newest office in Shanghai, China. According to chairman and CEO Dr. Robert J. Shillman, "China is rapidly becoming a world leader in manufacturing, and, although labor costs there are still low, the trend is moving quickly to automated manufacturing."

Dr. Shillman continued, "For the past several years Cognex has been serving China through partnerships with local companies.
