System automates materials test

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 2/1/2004

The Dynatup Specimen Feeder System (SFS) measures the impact properties of polymers according to ASTM D3763 and ISO 6603-2 standards and automates specimen conditioning, setup, loading, impact tests, and specimen removal after test. The system consists of a specimen feeder system, an environmental chamber, Instron's Dynatup 9250HV Impact Test Instrument, Impulse software, and an electronics data system. The feed mechanism automatically loads specimens from the cartridge into the pneumatic clamping fixture. System design allows users to sequentially test up to 70 specimens in the environmental chamber, eliminating soak time between testing batches, and enabling testing to continue with minimal interruption.
