Tabletop AOI

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 2/1/2004

In an effort to "raise the bar" on capabilities for a compact, off-line automated inspection station, Machine Vision Products has introduced the GEM Series of tabletop systems. Despite its 50% smaller footprint than comparable systems, the GEM series offers full solder-joint inspection and measurement capabilities. The system comes standard with one large-format digital camera and a high-precision x-y stage. The camera has a configurable field of view with 17 to 22 µm/pixel resolution standard. It comes with CAD-driven, library-based programming software and uses adaptable algorithms, permitting high detectability with a minimum of false failures. The system can perform paste, pre-reflow, and post-reflow/post-wave inspection, and can detect both insufficient and excess solder defects.
