High-voltage test fixtures
The TF series of test fixtures makes accurate in-line measurements of high-voltage power supplies and systems up to 40 kV DC. Each stand-alone fixture comprises an AC viewing cap and compensated DC divider units for measuring ripple, noise, pulse, absolute DC, DC stability, DC line regulation, and DC load regulation. UltraVolt, Ronkonkoma, NY. 800-948-7693; www.ultravolt.com.
Camera configuration utility
CamExpert, a Windows-based utility bundled with the Sapera LT 5.0 image acquisition and development library, speeds camera interfacing through the use of a simple point-and-click menu. Its interactive environment lets you easily create new – or modify existing – configuration files for applications involving area and line-scan cameras. Coreco Imaging, St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada. 514-333-1301; www.imaging.com.
Multi-site test socket
The 718M series 0.5-mm clamshell socket accommodates up to four devices housed in chip-scale packages, allowing you to test multiple devices at the same time. A floating plate suspends each device over the socket’s contacts. Devices interconnect only when the pressure pads are applied as the clamshell lid is closed. Independent pressure pads enable an individual interface with each device. Therefore, the force applied to each device is not dependent on the overall thickness of the other devices. In addition to chip-scale packages (BGA and LGA), the 718M can be configured to accommodate QFN packages. Wells-CTI, Phoenix, AZ. 800-348-2505; www.wellscti.com.
Miniature DIP converters
DC/DC converters in the SB series provide 3 W, 5 W, and 8 W of output power in industry-standard dual-in-line packages. Devices accept single-range and 2:1 wide-range inputs from 9 VDC to 75 VDC, while furnishing single and dual outputs from 3.3 VDC to 24 VDC. The series comprises 55 models, each with short-circuit protection, internal input filtering, and 1600-VDC I/O isolation. Units operate over a temperature range of S20-C to R60-C without forced cooling or output power derating. Base price: $13 (OEM). Astrodyne, Taunton, MA. 508-823-8080; www.astrodyne.com.
Surface-mount reed switch
With a glass length of 5 mm, the J-leaded RI-80 is one of the smallest surface-mount reed switch sensors available. The dry-reed switch, which is hermetically sealed in a gas-filled glass envelope, is a SPST type with normally open contacts and containing two magnetically actuated reeds. Rated at 5 W, the RI-80 features a wider flat lead design to provide both stability during component placement and improved solderability for surface-mount applications. Price: under $0.45 (OEM). Delivery: 10 to 12 weeks. Coto Technology, Providence, RI. 401-943-2686; www.cotorelay.com.
Low-phase-noise oscillator
Offered in both a clock version (CCHD-950) and a VCXO version (CVHD-950), this HCMOS oscillator has a noise floor of just S162 dBc [square root]Hz. The extremely low phase noise performance is useful in synthetic instrumentation such as VXI and PXI. The 3.3-VDC oscillator generates frequencies between 50 MHz and 100 MHz, with 80 MHz and 100 MHz offered as standard. An extended operating temperature range of S40-C to R85-C is also available. Price: $12 to $16 (OEM). Crystek Crystals Corp., Fort Myers, FL. 800-237-3061; www.crystek.com.
Spa-approved power supply
A single-output power supply, the R1005 is ETL-certified to meet UL and CSA standards for spa/hot tub usage. The unit comes in 180-W and 350-W versions, providing all the power needed for a spa’s integrated water-resistant audio, communication, and control equipment. The R1005’s shielded and grounded transformer reduces or eliminates shock hazards, while a weather-sealed enclosure offers added protection from water and humidity. Output voltage is adjustable from 12 VDC to 14 VDC. In addition, the power supply taps into the spa’s 120 VAC or 240 VAC input power, making it a universal fit for spa applications. Price: $160 (25 units). Radius Power, Orange, CA. 714-289-0055; www.radiuspower.com.
