IC offers IEEE 1149.6 testability

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 4/1/2004

EDITORS' CHOICE

The SCAN90CP02 1.5-Gbps, 2x2 LVDS (low-voltage differential signaling) analog crosspoint switch features a programmable pre-emphasis feature, and it complies with the IEEE 1149.6 boundary-scan standard for AC-coupled interconnects.

The pre-emphasis feature boosts high-frequency signals to improve signal integrity across lossy AC-coupled backplanes and cables, while the IEEE 1149.6 compliance supports test of these backplanes and cables. (AC-coupled, or capacitively coupled, interconnects eliminate DC offsets between remotely located transmitters and receivers, yet the AC coupling feature renders such interconnects untestable via 1149.1-based DC techniques.) The SCAN90CP02 also features a supplementary IEEE 1149.1-initiated fault-insertion capability to verify system-level redundancy modes.

Price: $4.95 each in quantities of 1000. National Semiconductor, Santa Clara, CA. 408-721-5000; www.national.com/scan.
