Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 4/1/2004

Members of the Matrox Iris P-Series line of programmable smart cameras each combine sensor, processing, and software technologies in one package. Designed for PC-based machine-vision systems, each camera features a software API (application programming interface) for image analysis. The Iris P-Series is fully programmable using a version of Microsoft's Visual C++ programming language, and OEMs and integrators can develop custom automotive, electronics, robotics, and other applications using the Matrox Imaging Library imaging-processing software toolkit. The camera employs an Intel Celeron low-power processor and runs the Windows CE .NET real-time operating system.

Base price: $1750. Matrox Imaging , Dorval, QC, Canada. 514-685-2630; www.matrox.com/imaging/about .
