Benchtop x-ray system

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 5/1/2004

To provide users with a small, portable x-ray system that can handle bare or fully loaded printed-circuit boards up to 16x18 in., FocalSpot has introduced the Verifier, a low-cost, closed-cabinet benchtop system that boasts a footprint of only 29x32 in. The system's large field of view makes it ideal for inspection, failure analysis, and verification of reworked BGAs, micro-BGAs, chip-scale packages, and other SMT devices and connectors. It can also provide spot checks of production lines for small and medium-sized EMS providers. A high-resolution 80-kV, 33-micron microfocus x-ray tube offers sufficient power to punch through such challenging packages as ceramic-column grid arrays and BGAs with metal lids and heat sinks.
