PXI card for audio and vibration

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 5/1/2004

National Instruments' PXI-4461 digitizes audio and vibration signals with up to 24 bits of resolution. Consisting of two simultaneously sampled analog inputs, the card can sample at up to 204.8 ksamples/s with software-selectable standard rates of 44.1 ksamples/s, 96 ksamples/s, and 48 ksamples/s (used in CD players and digital-audio tape).

Analog and digital 92-kHz low-pass filters ensure alias-free signal capture with 117-dB dynamic range up to that frequency. The card also has two 24-bit analog outputs that you can use for generating audio and vibration signals.

You can synchronize two or more PXI4461 cards to get more channels and trigger measurements with analog or digital triggers. Digital triggers include an external TTL-compatible trigger input, or you can trigger the card from the PXI trigger bus.

Price: $3995. National Instruments, Austin, TX. 800-258-7022; www.ni.com .
