3-D paste inspection

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 8/1/2004

To help manufacturers identify PCB defects as early in the cycle as possible, Viscom has introduced 3-D paste inspection as an option for the S3054QS QuickScan inspection system. The paste-inspection capability permits programming in the shortest possible time along with high-speed error recognition. The company claims very high first-pass yields even during an initial run because of a high failure-recognition rate, extremely low rate of false failures, and inspection times less than the line cycle time. Dual-line laser illumination permits the detection of shorts and missing paste, and the system can also determine paste height and topography with a resolution up to 10 µm.
