Create closed-loop test systems

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 8/1/2004

Data Translation's DSP-based data-acquisition effort is the DT9842, which combines eight analog inputs, two or eight analog outputs, 24 digital I/O lines, and a DSP to run real-time measurement and control applications such as hardware-in-the-loop simulations. Sample rates for the analog I/O can reach 100 ksamples/s per channel. It's fast enough for control loops in applications such as hardware-in-the-loop simulations.

The unit connects to a host PC over a USB 2.0 interface. It's available in a OEM version (board only) or in an enclosure.

The DT9842 has three software options. If you choose DT Measure Foundry/RT Streaming, you get a development package and programming examples for an oscilloscope, DMM, function generator, and spectrum analyzer. You can also write DSP code using the Texas Instruments' Code Composer or using Microsoft Visual Studio 6 or higher.

Base price: $4535. Data Translation, Marlboro, MA. www.datatranslation.com .
