CAN data-acquisition system

HEM Data has released version 2.0 of Dawn, the company's PC-based software and hardware system that is used to acquire data from an in-vehicle network. Conforming to both CAN and J1850 standards, the system not only acquires data from the vehicle's sensors through the network, but also allows users to add sensors and acquire information directly with analog-to-digital conversion hardware.
Designed for in-vehicle or laboratory testing, Dawn displays the acquired data in real time as a y-t or x-y plot, as a stripchart, or as a meter (digital, analog, or bar). The system can plot up to 64 channels of data in one graph and up to 100 graphs can be displayed on the screen.
Dawn works with hardware from Cubic Systems and National Instruments, and it integrates HEM Data's Snap-Master data-acquisition and analysis software with various hardware options, including an external box, a PCMCIA card, or a plug-in PCI card. Snap-Master supports digital I/O, analog output, and counter/timer functions, and it works with hardware from companies such as Dataq, Measurement Computing, Keithley, and IOtech.
