Speed doubles in and out
Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 10/1/2004
National Instruments has doubled the sample speeds of its PXI digitizer and arbitrary waveform generator to 200 Msamples/s. The NI-PXI-5124 digitizer comes standard with 8 Msamples of memory with up to 512 Msamples optional. The digitizer's 12-bit resolution and 150-MHz bandwidth make it appropriate for applications in wireless and wireline communications, such as DSL, medical imaging, and consumer electronics. A spectral measurement toolkit lets you analyze signals in the frequency domain.
The PXI-5422 16-bit arbitrary waveform generator can store digitized waveforms and, through links and loops, produce waveforms with up to 3-million sequence instructions. Its single, continuous, stepped, and burst triggers let you simulate waveforms such as digital modulation, antilock brake systems, and telematics systems. And with the analog waveform editor software, you can even define your own waveforms.
Both modules come with soft front panels that let you check bus communications and signal I/O without programming. The digitizer comes with IVI-compliant drivers for LabView, Visual Basic, and other languages. The waveform generator comes with LabView drivers.
Base price: $5995 for each instrument. National Instruments, Austin, TX. www.ni.com/modularinstruments/200.htm .
