Scopes handle floating measurements

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 10/1/2004

The battery-powered TPS2000 series of digital storage oscilloscopes each feature up to four isolated channels. The TPS2012 offers two channels at 100 MHz; the TPS2014 and TPS2024 offer four channels with 100- and 200-MHz bandwidths, respectively.

The scopes permit floating measurements up to 30 V RMS with the provided P2220 probes; the TPS2PBND option includes power-measurement and analysis software (which calculates switching loss, power factor, and harmonic distortion) as well as four P5120 passive high-voltage probes, which permit measurements to 1000 V RMS (probe tip to earth ground).

Each instrument comes with two hot-swappable batteries that provide for eight hours of operation. An integrated CompactFlash drive stores test programs and data.

Price: scopes—$2990 to $3790; PBND option—$1190. Tektronix, Beaverton, OR. www.tektronix.com.
