Boundary-scan tool adds processor emulation

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 11/1/2004

The ScanWorks Extended JTAG Coverage product combines standard boundary-scan test with microprocessor emulation technology. It incorporates the emulation-based functional test technology of µMaster from International Test Technologies (www.intertesttech.com). The product initially supports processors including the IBM PowerPC and and Intel Pentium and XScale devices.

The ScanWorks Extended JTAG Coverage product takes advantage of the fact that many processors feature JTAG ports for emulation and testing. Emulation products such as µMaster use that port to control the processor and carry out various functional test routines. The ScanWorks and µMaster combination permits execution of boundary-scan test capabilities to devices such as Ethernet controllers that may not have boundary-scan capabilities but that can be accessed by the system microprocessor.

Base price: $10,000. Asset InterTech, Richardson, TX; www.asset-intertech.com.
