Portable laser scanner

-- Test & Measurement World, 12/1/2004

The ModelMaker Z portable laser scanner captures complex 3-D geometries by capturing more than 23,000 points/s and in stripe widths of 35, 70, or 140 mm. This sixth-generation ModelMaker can be powered by a battery for up to 2 hrs and can also be controlled by a laptop computer. New features improve the scanner's performance on shiny or dark surfaces; an enhanced sensor performance (ESP) enables the sensor to tune its sensitivity on-the-fly based on real-time feedback, and an adaptive laser power (ALP) automatically changes laser intensity based on real-time feedback of the color and reflectivity of the part.
