Industrial gauging sensors

Staff -- Test & Measurement World, 2/1/2005

Class 3R and Class 3b Selcom SLS 5000 single-point noncontact sensors employ a dynamic laser feedback loop to perform measurements that are unaffected by speed, ambient light changes, color, and temperature. The devices sample at a rate of 16 kHz and require a power source of 18 VDC to 32 VDC. Measurement range is from 0.24 in. to 39.4 in. with resolution from ±0.0006 in. to ±0.00320 in. The self-contained sensors, which include a built-in processor for data averaging and filtering, provide 0-to-20-A or 4-to-20-mA analog output and RS-232 or RS-422 digital output.
